Golf Course News - 6/1/2010
Wow, where did spring go? The spring has been hectic as usual and like normal, we are behind. Fortunately, in the coming weeks the rest of the summer crew will start. Once we are fully staffed we will slowly get caught back up.
This spring we added a new piece of equipment to our fleet. It is called a greens roller. This purchase was made possible by the Hird Foundation. The roller will provide us with another tool to maintain the greens at the speed that is desired. It will also take some stress off of the grass and will certainly reduce the amount of mowing that must occur on a daily basis. Coming in the following weeks we will hopefully start to renovate the bunker on 10. Like the other bunkers that have been done, the drainage will be redone and new sand will be in stalled. Once again this was made possible by the Hird Foundation.
I would like to take an opportunity to recognize my employees this month. I have an excellent group of individuals working for me. They do a great job of maintaining country club property. I like the fact that they are reliable, hard workers, but I love the way they care about the condition of FDCC. It is very difficult to teach someone to care about what they are doing. Luckily I don't have that issue with my crew.
