Golf Course News - 8/1/2009

Wow, has the weather been perfect this year! There is nothing better than wearing a sweatshirt in July. Hopefully August is just as nice. The cool weather has been perfect for the golf course and it is in great shape. Per usual, the localized dry spots have appeared in our fairways. These areas have dried out and will not readily absorb water. About the only practical cure for our fairways are the long soaking rains that we receive in the fall.

As I am sure many of you have noticed, the halos have disappeared from around the greens. The idea is that cart traffic will be dispersed, thus spreading out the damage that occurs. Even though there are no halos, I remind everybody to please keep carts away from greens to achieve the best playing conditions possible.

On a different note……………..I am also asking for your help. The current FDCC mascot needs a new home. I am talking about one of our new residents – Elliot the cat (aka Tony). He is a black, male, outside cat. He is very friendly and needs to go to a good home. If anybody is interested, contact me at 955-3547 or Steve at 955-8551.

Hope to see everyone on the golf course.
